• Make your own insect repellent with crushed bay leaves, vinegar and neem and place it on window sills and in dark corners. Another repellent can be made by mixing wheat flour, milk and boric acid. Keep this mix away from reach of children.

  • Dry lemon skins in the sun and use them in cupboards as insect repellents.

  • Tulsi plant keeps mosquitoes and flies away.

  • Mix tobacco with water and apply it in cracks and holes to get rid of ants.

  • To get rid of flies from your kitchen, keep a stem of fresh mint leaves in a glass of  water on your kitchen table.

  • In case of an insect bite, use some calamine lotion or a paste made from baking soda and water, this will bring instant relief.
