SOILMEC introduces the biggest bored PILING RIG in India


Italian Giant being deployed for MMRDA job in Mumbai

Bangalore, April 15th 2008 - Soilmec Foundation Equipments Private Ltd, a subsidiary of 5Soilmec S.p.A, Italy, today announced that they have deployed the largest Piling Rig ever to be supplied in India. This Hydraulic Piling Rig, model SR-100 has the capability of doing a bored piles upto a diameter of 3 meters and a depth of upto 90 meters. This machine weighing 140 tons is presently being deployed with a leading Civil Engineering company in India to be used for a MMRDA job in Mumbai for doing 1200 mm diameter into very hard strata. Soilmec Foundation Equipments Private Ltd, is the Indian arm of Soilmec S.p.A an Italian manufacturer of foundation equipments belonging to the US $ One Billion Trevi Group.

Soilmec, has already developed a strategic setup in Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai to support a large fleet of machines being introduced in the country with various advanced features and is fully geared with trained people and spare parts to attend to the machine as and when required to ensure the smooth functioning of the machine.

Soilmec India offers a portfolio of 20 machines ranging from 20 tons to 100 tons, capacity of drilling piles from 400mm up to 3000 mm diameters. Soilmec, till date has about seventy five rigs of all (various) types working in India, including that of Micropiling and Forepoling. The company will strives to consistently introduce new models and technologies in India in the next couple of years.

Speaking on the deployment of SR-100, Mr. Sanjoy Chakrabarty – Managing Director, Soilmec (India) said, “It is indeed a proud moment for Soilmec to be the first to deploy this gargantuan rig in India. This rig has various special features including an advanced DMS with which the performance and the operation of the machine at the jobsite can be monitored directly from the contractor’s office using GPRS. The operator is also able to see various function of the machine on the screen of the DMS through a series of cameras fitted at various strategic locations on the machine, giving him a complete control and vision of the entire machine.”
